Tennis in Mallorca: The Best Clubs, Coaching & Professional Events
Jackie Diedam’s map of Mallorca
Mallorca is one of Spain’s strongest tennis destinations — for adults, juniors, and competitive players alike. I’ve been hosting tennis holidays and working with players on this island since 2012, and when Mallorca gets it right, it’s exceptional.
You have nearly 300 days of sunshine a year. Clay courts that slow the ball and reward smart construction. An international tennis culture that pushes your game without ego. Add professional events, serious academies, and beaches that make recovery feel earned — and you understand why players keep coming back.
But here’s the part people don’t tell you: where you base yourself on the island matters more than anything. I’ve learned that the hard way.
This guide covers:
Where to actually play tennis on Mallorca
The best adult and junior training options
Professional events worth traveling for
When to visit for ideal playing conditions
What to enjoy off-court without falling into tourist traps
Why Mallorca Works for Tennis Players
Spain produces strong tennis players for a reason. Training is year-round, outdoors, and mentally demanding. Players grow up learning how to construct points, handle wind, heat, and long rallies — not just hit hard.
Mallorca has quietly become one of the island’s best places to experience that culture. It’s home to the Rafa Nadal Academy, strong local junior programs, international adult players, and a steady calendar of tournaments.
The best months to play tennis in Mallorca are May, June, September, and October. July and August are playable, but hot — better suited for early morning or evening sessions.
Flights into Palma de Mallorca (PMI) are easy from across Europe, and English is widely spoken alongside Spanish and Catalan.
Location Matters More Than You Think
Mallorca is beautiful, but not every area is ideal for tennis.
Some parts of the southwest — especially areas historically built for party tourism — have struggled with court maintenance, inconsistent service, and facilities that don’t match what traveling players expect. I’ve played on “clay” courts with so little clay they felt like concrete by midday. Not great for your knees or your mood.
A tennis holiday isn’t just about drills. It’s about facilities, flow, and recovery. When those are off, the whole experience suffers.
